    1. Medic

Read many reviews on rolling bags as I wanted to use this for college textbooks. One book weighs 14 lbs. Such as it is for RN students and probably law and med students as well. So far so good as I purchased in January. Biggest complaint were the stupid nobby noisy wheels that JanSport installs on this bag. I did write them to complain. I changed out the wheels with a set I purchased on Amazon. Nice and quiet now. The bag has held up well during the spring and summer semester I am currently in. No signs of tears and the zippers are holding up. The handle still retracts and extends well but I did spray it with a dry lube a couple of months ago as a preemptive measure. Probably would be a good idea to silicone spray the bag to make it more water resistance but I have a cover for mine that stays in the bag. At this point, I’d purchase another one but I would change out the wheels immediately. BTW, a #2 phillips screwdriver was all that was needed to change the wheels. Took about 5 minutes. Measure the wheels before ordering and get the inline skate type wheels. A couple extra washers of the size that come with the wheels, installed on the inside of the wheel helps to keep it from binding when the screw/axel is tightened.Read more

Sturdy, rolls easily, well made.Jansport has a lifetime warranty and we’re about to employ it for the second time. The first time, a rigid 3-ring binder cut through the interior of the fabric (over the span of a school year, constant rubbing of the binder edge against the backpack). It shouldn’t have happened, because the backpack pocket was just made a little too small for this typical school supply, so we used the warranty and sent it back. I thought they’d repair it (sew it), but they replaced it with a brand new one, and it looks like they even improved the model to make it roomier! Now we’re sending it back again because the telescoping handle won’t retract, because the back side of it was banged repeatedly going up stairs while full of heavy books. Not completely a “workmanship” issue (this seems like rather typical wear that a backpack would take), but they’ll still take it back and fix it (fingers crossed – it seems to be the case with other users). So how can I give this 5 stars if I’ve had to repair it twice? Because, for only the cost of one way shipping, they stand behind their products FOREVER. And the workmanship on the product, and the design, are actually top notch. Kids can beat them up and they can take it.EDIT 11/16/2016 – got the delivery from the repair: another BRAND NEW replacement (black instead of the blue we had, but no biggie). This company truly stands behind their products!Read more

I was originally scared to get this, because I thought it would be too heavy for my 7th grader. Turns out, when she loaded all of her books; 9 composition books, 1 -3in loose-leaf, with 2pks of paper, spiral book, pencil case, 4 folders, 3pk Kleenex, 3pk clorox-clean up, lunch and water bottle on the side, the book bag glided lightly. The biggest surprise was when she put it on her back, it felt LIGHT!!! Therefore, it was well worth spending the money for this. The quality of it is great, (same quality as JanSport other bookbags , with this same look)…Bonus: there is a button on top of the handle that when pushed, it releases the handle down. The only con is the handle: it is not as sturdy as I would like it and it doesn’t have a middle position, it is either up or down. However, I would still recommend buying this will full faith it will be worth it!Read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! My 11 year old son goes to a charter school and they do not have lockers or set desks so everything comes home with him. I have bought rolling backpacks from Pottery Barn and while they are nice, they did not hold up to the constant use as this one. This backpack is large enough for all his binders, folder, composition books, lunch bag, water bottle, etc. Good amount of pockets. It has held up the constant beating of loading and unloading in car, and the rough concrete near the school. The handle is well made and not flimsy like the others I bought. Next year my nine year old twins will be going to the same charter school so I will be buying them each a Jansport Driver! Best investment ever!Read more

Looking for a backpack for your middle schooler? THIS IS ITMy daughter had so many books she was lugging back and forth, that we decided this was the answer. Yes, it’s pricey, but well worth the investment…this will get her through middle school and probably high school as well.Highly recommend if you’re a parent that likes organization and practicality 😉Read more

Everything was good except for one problem that was bugging me a lot. I’m quite a fan of JanSport rolling backpacks. So, I decided to give the Driver 8 core series a try. Everything’s actually pretty much an upgrade. No bottles falling out of the cup holder like before, and other small flaws fixed. I now have two Driver 8 core series bags and they share the same problem. THE HANDLE. Here’s why their handles are a problem.1. Not as durable as other JanSport rolling backpacks. I can tell by the way the parts easily collapse down when you press the button. On previous roller backpacks by JanSport, it felt more durable and was very stable compared to this current series.2. If you pull the handle up all the way, it won’t stay up. This was the main problem that was bugging me.3. This last one isn’t really a problem to me, this is just an observation. They decided to change the color of the handle from bright silver to a more yellowish tint, similar to gold. So basically a silver with a gold tint.Sorry this was kind of long, but it’s true and needs to be read. I think you should consider this before buying. I will be returning this to see if I can get a better quality model.Read more
