  1. An exceedingly hot individual

I’m a super short guy (5’2”) and I’ve been trying to find a messenger bag that doesn’t look stupid on me for YEARS. It’s all about proportion, and regular size bags make me look like a little kid. Not attractive! This bag is just the right size and it fits everything I need. To give you an idea, I carry a 10.5” iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard, packable windbreaker, reusable tote, pouch with chargers/cables, power bank, umbrella, glasses case, scarf and gloves. There’s still room to spare. It’s surreal how much stuff I can fit in this thing despite it being very small (and it is VERY small — it’s about the size of a purse, so do keep that in mind if you don’t want that). Read more

Replaced by North Face backpack with this and so far am very happy. I cycle to work, around 20 miles per week and this bag has been great for that purpose. I usually carry my 13″ laptop, a coffee flask (Zojirushi SM-KHE48BA Stainless Steel Mug), gym kit and lunch. All items fit and are well organized. Other reviewers say the bottle compartments are too small, however they fit the zojirushi flask well and it needs to be snug to hold your bottle upright. Love the colors of the bag, the flight version is a little more expensive than the classic bag, however the material is of a better quality. I went into REI and saw the basic black bag and the material was not as nice as this version. Overall very happy with the purchase. Read more

At first, I thought the soft, floppy feel of the bag would bother me as I generally prefer a bag that stiffly holds its shape, allowing for easy, one-handed clawing into a variety of pockets. As I’ve used the bag for multiple international trips already, I’ve found myself using it more and more. Being soft shelled allows me to quickly unpack the bag, then roll it up and stuff the whole thing in a carry on bag. After a couple times of that, I stopped unpacking the bag before rolling and stuffing it away. Despite its compact and space-saving construction, the amount this little thing can hold makes it feel like I’m walking around with a bag of holding. Laptop, iPad, iPhone, corresponding chargers, two Moleskin notebooks (5×8.25in), house/car/office keys, a weeks worth of medication, a Swiss Army knife, AND a light hoodie – items that spent the day in my bag. Finally, this is about the most intuitive, thoughtfully designed bag I’ve owned and as an obsessive compulsive male with a penchant for writing, the outdoors and being prepared, well… I’ve had a LOT of backpacks, messenger bags, duffel bags, briefcases, and suitcases. It’s not the best timbuk2 has ever made, but it’s in the top five best I’ve ever had. Read more

I wanted a small, lightweight bag for work. It needed to carry everything I needed on a daily basis (work keys, water bottle, snacks, laptop, etc.) without being overly bulky or cumbersome. I chose the Flight over the Classic because of the weight difference. The interior pockets are a bit small for my water bottle (Swell) but it fits in the front compartment just fine. There is plenty of room for my 13″ MacBook Pro, papers, etc. I like the small pockets for organization (including pen pockets!) and the side pocket is great for a wallet. The interior is indeed waterproof which is great if your drinks leak. Although the velcro on the front is noisy, I like that it causes the bag to “automatically” close if I don’t feel like using the buckles or I am in a rush. My only real complaint is the color choices – the neon interior is a bit garish (it does make it easy to see things) and the blue buckles are somewhat childish looking. Overall, I highly recommend this bag! Read more

It was partially my fault for not reading the description closely enough, but I expected a messenger bag with “flight” in its name would be well designed for air travel. This bag, alas, does not have a “trolley sleeve”–that bit of fabric on the back that lets you slide the bag over the handle of a rollie bag. So, it’s not so great for plane trips. That’s a deal-breaker for me. I’ll be taking advantage of the free return on this one. Further, I don’t so much like the shape of this bag. It seems short and fat to me. I already have a Timbuk2 bag that is just about perfect in every way, but I’m wearing it out. Unfortunately, Timbuk2 has discontinued that model and I’m struggling to find a good replacement. Every now and then I might need to take my 11” iPad Pro or 13” MacBook Air with me, but I don’t necessarily want to carry a full-sized backpack carrying only one of those items. So I would go to work holding my laptop/iPad in hand and that would be fine. It’s the part AFTER work that had me thinking maybe I should get a small bag at least. Too many times I’ve found myself fumbling around with my keys and phone in one hand while the other hand struggled to hold my laptop/iPad and the dinner I picked up on my way home. Using my laptop/iPad as a tray to hold my things worked at times, but my clumsy self dropped a boba tea one time and that was the last straw for me. I needed a bag. As mentioned before, I didn’t want to carry a full-sized backpack because I didn’t need the extra real estate. I came across this bag and couldn’t decide between the x-small and small, but I eventually decided on the x-small because the point was to keep it as minimal as possible to only fit my laptop/iPad. At first glance, the bag looked pretty small, but it’s very well put together and organized. I can actually fit both my MacBook Air and iPad in there, but it is a tight squeeze. I put my 11” iPad Pro in the laptop compartment and I put my 13” MacBook Air in the main compartment. The water bottle compartments are a bit small, so they’re better used to hold cables or something. I can fit my AirPods, keys, and wallet in the zipper pockets. Everything is snug and tight, not in a bad way but in a safe and sturdy kind of way. Overall, the bag ended up being perfect for me and I use it the most. Read more
