I hike with this umbrella and had to figure out how to attach it to my pack. I think I have a good clamp now. Works best with 2 and one attached high on the shoulder strap. So far I have only used it for sun protection and it is super. Can take the hat off. Doesn’t work well on a brushy trail. It folds up super small and weighs very little. I put it in the water bottle pocket of the pack since I’m using a hydration bladder for water. The umbrella will be a permanent part of my pack. Read more

my fav’rite gear whether it’s a day hike or multi day trek in the mountain or desert! on the first mile of our 6days trek , I had a nose bleed from overheating in an exposed trail wearing my hat… switched to this umbrella and never had to worry about nose bleed again nor overheating. I had the shade i needed and the fresh breeze to keep me cool. it is lightweight and durable! TMI but i just had it under my backpack’s chest strap and toggled under my boobs to the direction on the sun 😀 worked great and better than strapping it on my pack’s shoulder strap. every backpacker i came across were jealous of my trail shelter!!! Nice and light and small in size when folded up. But let’s talk about the folding up of this thing. I gave it 4 stars as this takes a few extra steps in folding this thing up. But I’m sure this is necessary to have something smaller to hike/travel with. It may or may not be an issue for some but look into it. I decided to keep it and it does the job. Read more

Purchased this umbrella for backpacking and was not disappointed when I ran into a rainstorm on my last hike. Through moderate wind and rain this kept me dry and held up through several gusts. It is light and packs down small but spans a large enough area to cover my head and my pack. I usually use a rain jacket or poncho but am now fully convinced that this umbrella is the way to go. This kept me much more dry and comfortable. Read more
